Sophos 8 for Mac is Here

Sophos Anti-Virus 8 has arrived and is available for download from Blue Disc. Please read this important note regarding Sophos 8 and Mac OS X 8.

Blue Disc and Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)

The following Blue Disc downloads are now compatible with Lion:

• Fetch

Anti-Virus Software for Windows and Mac OS X

We strongly recommend that you download and install one of the following anti-virus products. It's free to the U-M community.

Windows

• For your university-owned computer:

  Under the Microsoft License Agreement, ITS offers Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection for use on Windows-based computers that are owned by the University of Michigan. It is expressly forbidden to install this software on personally-owned computers.

  To download Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Security Suite, choose a Windows operating system from the Blue Disc menu, log in and download the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the software. For information on how to determine which version you have, see Is my PC running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?

• For your personally-owned computer:

  We recommend Microsoft Security Essentials, which can be downloaded free from Microsoft.

Mac OS X

• For your University-owned computer:

  Under the Sophos License Agreement, ITS offers Sophos Antivirus for use on Mac OS X-based computers that are owned by the University of Michigan. It is expressly forbidden to install this software on personally-owned computers.

  To download Sophos Antivirus, choose a Mac OS X operating system from the Blue Disc menu, log in and download U-M Sophos Antivirus.

• For your personally-owned computer:

  We recommend Sophos Antivirus Home Edition, which can be downloaded free from Sophos.

  IMPORTANT! Before installing Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac, please follow these instructions to remove any previous version.
