Database Management

Workshop Description

This course is recommended for those who need to develop a relational database or who would like to understand the process better. The intention is to teach skills that help your database be efficiently organized to store and query data. This one lecture-based class steps back from Physical Design in a specific program such as Access or FileMaker Pro, to concentrate on Logical Design, so it is appropriate for ALL database users. We will discuss how to gather information about your database needs, organize data into tables, rules for tables and fields, and we will identify the relationships between the tables we build together. A group exercise is followed by an independent exercise so you can apply what you have learned in a different scenario. Once you are comfortable with Logical Design, the Physical Design in a database should be much more trouble-free. Many people have told us they found this class essential to their success!
