Sometimes when I share my calendar or create a delegate, why does the wrong person get permission to my account?

This can happen if there is more than one person with the same name in the University. Even though you selected the correct person, Entourage may incorrectly assign another person with the same name but different uniqname. Since you only see the person's full name in your Permissions window, you can't tell if the correct uniqname has been selected.

To avoid this problem, use the following steps to make sure Entourage selects the correct person.
UNIQNAME HINT: Use this method if you prefer to search by uniqname. Searching by uniqname will always generate only one person, so you won't know if there's more than one person with the same name from which Entourage can select.

  1. When your Select User search result provides more than one person with the same name, click Advanced.
  2. In the Advanced window:

  3. Back in the Folder Properties window, click the pop-up menu next to Permission Level and select the permission you wish to provide.

NOTE: Your delegate's name displays as UMROOT\uniqname. However, the next time you open this window, the full name will appear, last name first as seen in step 5 earlier in this document.

  4. Let your new delegate know that you have established delegate permissions. Information on accessing your account as a delegate is available in Using E-Mail and Calendars as a Delegate (S4329-G).
