What if I enter the wrong password?

You have 8 attempts to enter your password correctly. Please be sure to read the IMPORTANT! notes.

Each time you make an incorrect entry, your device will alert you with the number of remaining tries.

After a fourth incorrect entry, you must enter a series of numbers and letters that your device provides to prove that you are, in fact, attempting to enter your password. This is called login verification, and if entered incorrectly, the device does not accept any more input until the series is correctly entered. This helps provide protection against:

• a young child playing with your device.
• random characters being entered as you carry your device in a purse, pocket, or briefcase.

IMPORTANT!

• If your password is entered incorrectly eight consecutive times, your device will automatically reset itself to factory settings. There is no way to prevent this. You will lose all data and any applications you've installed that are not stored on a memory card. Your Exchange data is safe because it's stored on the Exchange server. You only need to reconfigure and sync your reset device with the server.
• We highly recommend you only use a 4-digit PIN password and provide yourself a very good hint (but not the password, of course). The operating system makes entering 5 or more digit passwords difficult.
