ITS Exchange Service

Exchange Quotas

Each ITS Exchange Email and Calendaring mailbox has a 30GB quota, and each Exchange VoiceMail mailbox has a 10MB quota. These quotas limit how much disk space is available for you to store Exchange data, such as your email, calendar, and voicemail messages.

Determining Your Quota Usage

In Outlook Web Access (OWA), click on the Gear icon in the top left of the screen then select Options. Your quota is viewable on the accounts section.

See one of these docs for the answer, depending on your Exchange client:

If You Near Your Quota

When you are within 1% of your quota, you will receive a warning message. For example, for the basic 500MB quota, you will receive a warning when you have used 450MB.

If you reach 99% of your quota, you'll receive a daily warning message until you reduce your account's size.

If You Exceed Your Quota

Should you exceed your quota, you will not be able to send email until you have removed enough messages to get below your quota. You will, however, continue to receive mail, but you will not be able to respond or create new messages.

You can tell which Exchange service (email/calendaring or voicemail) is over quota by the To: line in the email you receive informing you of over-quota status:

For help with accessing your voicemail mailbox, see the Exchange Voice Mail page (note: you may need to login with your uniqname and UMICH password)
