E-Mail Gateway for U-M

The umich.edu mail relay servers act as the primary mail gateway into the University of Michigan. Mail sent to addresses ending in @umich.edu, @engin.umich.edu, @alumni.engin.umich.edu, and @dc.umich.edu comes to these machines.

The gateway machines find the appropriate delivery address for each piece of mail by checking the U-M Online Directory for the recipient's forwarding address.
