ITS General Computing

Information for Graduating Students

Congratulations on your graduation! As a graduating student, you have several options available for continuing to take advantage of some of your ITS-provided computing services.

Standard Computing Services

Your current ITS-provided computing services will continue as long as your department has you designated as "Active in Program."

Alumni retain access to some, but not all, of those services. See Students: What Happens to Your Uniqname, Directory Profile, and Computing Services After You Leave U-M for details. Graduating students retain use of U-M Google Apps, including Mail and Calendar, when they become alumni.

Email Forwarding

Students who prefer not to use U-M Google for their email can still retain use of their address when they become alumni.

U-M offers email forwarding for alumni at no charge. This reroutes messages sent to your address to a different email account. Remember that when you change email providers, you will need to change the email forwarding address you've listed in the MCommunity Directory so that future messages will be forwarded to your new e-mail account.

For more information, see the Your Profile Settings (Mail Forwarding and More) section of the document, Managing Your Profile in the MCommunity Directory.
