MCommunity is an enterprise directory and identity management system that will allow the university to know who is and is not a member of the U-M community so that central officesas well as departments, schools, colleges, and campusescan grant and remove access to online resources as needed and appropriate.
MCommunity Directory: Under development.
A new online directory that will replace the U-M Online Directory. An MCommunity LDAP Tree is also under development to provide LDAP access to MCommunity data.
MCommunity Sponsor System: In production
Allows departments and the ITS Accounts Office to sponsor guest members of the University community and get uniqnames for them.
Primary Infrastructure: In place
MCommunity has a live data feed connection with M-Pathways, as well as regular batch update feeds from the Dearborn data warehouse, the Office of University Development data warehouse, and, via M-Pathways, the Flint Banner system. That allows for creation of MCommunity entries for faculty, staff, and students on all three campuses, as well as retirees, alumni, and sponsored people.
OTID creation and communication: In production
MCommunity generates OTIDs and sends them to incoming Ann Arbor students and to incoming staff hired through eMploy. These people then use the OTIDs, along with other information, to obtain a uniqname and UMICH password via the web.
