Providing Access to Services. MCommunity is used to give members of the university community access to the services their university affiliation makes them eligible for—and to remove access when they lose eligibility. This includes most standard computing services, as well as services that use UMROOT Active Directory for login.
Uniqname Creation. MCommunity sends out One-Time Identifier numbers (OTIDs) that are used by new students and employees to create their own uniqnames.
MCommunity Sponsor System. Used to get uniqnames and create online identities for sponsored people.
UMICH Password Hub. Synchronizes UMICH passwords to Active Directory (UMROOT) and M+Google, enabling one password for multiple U-M services.
