Subject: MCommunity Update: Implementation Timeline & System Architecture
Hello,
Detailed MCommunity timeline and system architecture information is now available. This information provides an overview of what the University's MCommunity enterprise directory system will look like and when its component parts will be phased in.
The MCommunity Roadmap lists the various system components and when they will be available. It also provides detail about necessary behind-the-scenes work. The Roadmap is available on the MCommunity website.

For example, the first set of deliverables, scheduled for June 2008, includes
A sponsor system that departments will be able to use to create and manage identities for sponsored individuals.
A new web interface for uniqname self registration for incoming students and staff.
A programmatic read-write LDAP interface to MCommunity.
Drawings showing the technical details of the MCommunity system architecture are now available on the "MCommunity System Architecture: Technical Details" web page.

A group of people representing both units that will provide data to MCommunity and units that will use data from MCommunity met in early July to begin planning for early alpha testing of MCommunity components later this summer. The next MCommunity update will provide information about alpha testing plans and progress.
Regards,
