Subject: MCommunity Update: New directory is taking shape
Hello,
The MCommunity Project has made a lot of progress over the past few months. We are nearing the end of the "build" phase of our work on the core MCommunity infrastructure.
The project team has completed three rounds of integration testing to see how the modules of code developed thus far integrate and work together. The emphasis has been on creating a repository for directory data, setting up data feeds, and getting the data where it needs to go in the right format.
A live data feed from MAIS's PeopleSoft system is functioning in the project's development environment, and work is proceeding on a data feed from the Dearborn campus. The team is collaborating with the Office of University Development to include alumni data in an upcoming integration test. Two more integration test periods are planned between January and March. <http://www.itcs.umich.edu/mcommunity/testing/integration/>
Implementation of the LDAP Tree, the means by which we will provide LDAP access to MCommunity data, has moved from June to December 2008. This schedule change is because of data synchronization issues between the U-M Online Directory and MCommunity.
We have published an MCommunity overview document that describes MCommunity and its implications for the University:
Introduction to MCommunity (R1457)

Watch for an article in The University Record next month as we begin to share information about MCommunity more broadly.
Regards,
