Switch to DTV Will Not Impact Programming Offered by UMTV Cable

February 18, 2009

While many broadcast stations postponed the switch from analog to digital signals from February 17 to June 12, some received permission to go ahead with the switch. UMTV currently pulls programming from several digital channels, and ITCS has taken the steps necessary to ensure that UMTV Cable service will continue uninterrupted and be of the same high quality.

If you are a UMTV customer, you can safely ignore any message you see suggesting that your television is not capable of receiving digital broadcasts. You will not need to change or update your equipment in any way.

If you own a new digital television or plan to buy one soon, UMTV Cable is already broadcasting DTV/HDTV signals, using the "HDTV" standard (also known as 64QAM). UMTV Cable's channels are all free and are broadcast "in the clear" without encryption. See the full channel lineup for more details.
