Authorized U-M staff members can create online identities, including uniqnames, for people their department sponsors using the new MCommunity Sponsor System. Sponsored individuals include, for example, conference attendees, contractors, incoming faculty who need access to U-M resources before the hiring process is complete, guests who need wireless access, and others.
About 60 people from across all three campuses have signed up to be sponsorship administrators for their units. They include human resources staff members at the Dearborn and Flint campuses and information technology staff members from a number of schools and colleges on the Ann Arbor campus. Departments can also continue to request sponsorships from the ITCS Accounts Office by using the MCommunity Sponsorship Application forms.
