Caident Computing Site

Information

The Caident computing site is located in Room B344 (basement level) of the Dental School on Central Campus. The site contains 27 Mac and 13 Windows workstations.

An additional site featuring 5 cyberstations and a black and white printer have been added to the "Student Forum area" on Floor G. This cyber lounge allows students easy access to e-mail, Internet, and printing. Wireless computing is also available in this area for students with laptops that have a wireless networking card.

Special Features

Classroom Use: This site can also used as a classroom. It is scheduled through the Dental School. Contact Kate Piasecki (kfpia@umich.edu) for reservation information at 763-3313.

LCD Projector: A projector is available for connecting to a computer for classroom use.

Wireless Network: The Dental School is included in the MWireless Network provided by ITCS. The MWireless Network is available to U-M students, faculty, and staff. Additional wireless information is available online at: http://www.itcom.itd.umich.edu/wireless/

Color Printing: Color printing is available in the Caident computing site to all current UM Students, Faculty & Staff. Color printing is not included in the standard computing services, and the cost per page will be $0.40 which will be billed to student or departmental accounts. Copy Card Printers: The copy card program allows students to make phtocopies on Campus Computing Sites multi-function printers with a simple swipe of their Mcard. The copies are deducted from the standard services computing printing allotment. Copies beyond the BCP printing allotment are charged at $0.06 per printed side.

Scanner Station: There are several flatbed scanners available on both Macintosh and Windows full-use workstations. These scanners are available for all Faculty, Students, and Staff to use during normal operating hours. Additional information on scanning in Campus Computing Sites is available.

Slide/X-ray Light: A slide/x-ray light is available in the site for student use.

64-SITES: If the printers or workstations in the site are experiencing problems, call 64-SITES (Option #1) to report the problem, and a staff member of the Sites Environment Support Team will be sent to troubleshoot the problem or restock the Site.
