School of Education (SEB) Computing Site

Information

The School of Education computing site is located in Room 3010 on the 3rd floor of the School of Education Building (SEB) on Central Campus. The site is staffed by computing consultants who can answer standard computing services and Sites-related questions.

The SEB has an array of computing facilities available for use. The entire site contains 81 Mac OS and 49 Windows workstations. The SEB is also home to the New Media Center (NMC). The NMC is a site with resources to help students complete multimedia class projects. It offers powerful computers with specialized loadsets, scanners, and video editing suites. The NMC includes a computer classroom that can be reserved for a single session or for an entire semester (Rm. 3021).

Special Features

Electronic Classrooms: The SEB classroom (Rm. 3033) is equipped with 25 Mac OS computers containing CD-ROM drives and AV projection equipment. The NMC classroom (Rm. 3021) has 19 Mac OS workstations with a projection and sound system for the room. Video Editing: Digital, non-linear editing of miniDV, S-VHS or Hi8 video tapes using Apple's Final Cut Pro on three specialized systems. Other A/V software titles include Aperture, Boris Grafitti, cleaner, Logic Studio, Peak Express, DVD Studio Pro, and much more. These stations can export to any of the mediums listed above, and can burn DVDs and CDs.

Color Printing: Color printing is available in the SEB computing site to all current UM Students, Faculty & Staff. Color printing is not included in the standard computing services, and the cost per page will be $0.40 which will be billed to student or departmental accounts. Copy Card Printer: A copy card printer is located in the SEB computing site. The copy card program allows students to make phtocopies on Campus Computing Sites multi-function printers with a simple swipe of their Mcard. The copies are deducted from the standard computing services printing allotment. Copies beyond the printing allotment are charged at $0.06 per printed side.

Scanner Station: There are several flatbed scanners available. Scanners are installed at both Macintosh and Windows full-use workstations. A large (tabloid) flatbed scanner is also available on a Mac workstation. These scanners are available for all Faculty, Students, and Staff to use during normal operating hours. Wireless Network: The School of Education is included in the UM Wireless Network provided by ITCS. The UM Wireless Network is available to U-M students, faculty, and staff. More wireless information is available online at: http://www.itcom.itd.umich.edu/wireless/
