This full-featured solution provides Windows-compatible file space. Available in gigabyte increments, Mainstream Storage enables local system administrators to manage storage provisioning and access for their department.

  • Infrastructure is housed in a high-availability enterprise university data center.

  • Storage is monitored by ITS and available 24/7. For information about maintenance and planned outages, see the Service Level Agreement.

"Snapshot" capability allows the restoration of deleted data without the need for requesting restores from ITS.

  • Daily snapshots at noon and 4 p.m., retained for 3 days
  • Nightly snapshots at midnight every day, retained for 7 days
  • Weekly snapshots every Sunday morning at midnight, retained for 8 weeks

The service is available in increments of 10 gigabytes. To use this service you must have:

  • A 6-digit ShortCode for the account to which the service will be charged

  • Your department's Active Directory "prefix," which distinguishes their resource names from those of other departments

  • The name of an Active Directory group that will have administrative access to your storage

  • a MCommunity Directory group to which we can send notifications

  • To connect off campus: VPN or SFTP client

  • Windows: XP, Vista, Windows 7
  • Mac: OSX
  • Linux (requires 'smbfs' and the 'mount.cifs' command)
