Great Savings on SSL Certificates

Instant SSL and Entrust SSL Certificates

The ITS Web/Database team has renegotiated its volume discounts with Instant SSL and Entrust, two companies that provide commercial SSL certificates. We'll bill all certificates purchased on July 1, 2008 or later at these new, lower prices.

All University units can enjoy these significant savings for their secure web and network services. Plus you get these additional advantages when you purchase through the ITS Web/Database team:

Instant SSL, Entrust, or umwebCA?

All offer 128-bit encryption and are available through the Web Application Sign-up (wasup) website.

Most browsers support Instant SSL certificates, so your audience will be able to access your site without difficulty. However, you may need to install an Instant SSL root certificate on your server. You'll receive details with your server's certificate.

You may find Entrust certificates easier to install on servers that use java keystores, and you may want the support for the subjectAltName extension. Most web browsers already have an Entrust root certificate.

umwebCA certificates are free and therefore are a great value for units whose primary audience is within the U-M community. You will need to install the umwebCA root certificate on your server.

Prices Effective July 1, 2008
